From Bluff, UT highway 163 south takes you to Mexican Hat. San Juan River bridge at Mexican Hat honors Navy Seal Jason R. Workman. Jason spent his recreation hours in and on the San Juan. Jason was one of many that died when the helicopter carrying a mission crew crashed in Afghanistan.

Gump Hill marked by an information sign near mile post 13. Many pull outs for photo opts. Drive with care because many people will be in the middle of highway 163 taking pictures.

Navajo Monument Valley fee $8 per person to drive a 16 mile loop through Monument Valley. The first movie setting here is Stagecoach starring John Wayne in 1939.

Navajo Nation roadway through Monument Valley is rough. Not suitable for cars. You can pay for open air transport with Indian driver as a guide.
